Overview

Kathmandu is the capital and largest city of Nepal, unlike any other city in the world. The dilapidated buildings in the city center are in sharp contrast with the lively atmosphere pervading the streets. The store is filled with the smell of incense, street vendors push their goods, and people live their daily lives, all with historic temples and carved statues as the background. For hundreds of years, Kathmandu was one of the three royal cities that competed with Bhaktapur and Patan. Close to each other, these three are almost running together today. The highlight of Kathmandu has always been Durbar Square, which is the largest palace square of the three royal cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Temples and monuments of different shapes, sizes, styles and beliefs can be found here. Durbar Square in Kathmandu was severely damaged in the 2015 earthquake. Many buildings were destroyed beyond repair, but it is still a particularly worth visiting place.
